Clients may elect to pay for 15 years of storage in advance for $1375, a savings of more than 25% of regular annual payments.
Established in 2003, the Cord Blood Bank of Canada has it's office located in Markham, but it's storage is located in Toronto, Ontario (most likely at the Toronto General Hospital).
Offering quality customer service, potential customers can partake in a pre-registration meeting to review and explain services offered at any of their office locations, staff courier pickup from selected hospitals, .
In addition to traditional banking services, Cord Blood Bank of Canada offers "Biological Insurance" at an additional cost, a procedure which banks not only the cord blood, but the umbilical cord and placenta as well, for a reported 4900% increase in the number of potential stem cells available. This service costs an additional $100 + GST per month for 56 months, then %50 per month thereafter, a significant increase over the storage fees for cord blood alone. A process known as HLA -typing (to determine suitability of your baby's cord blood for other family members) is also available at an additional cost of $819.
Payments can be made over 4 months ($300, $300, $300, $200) or 11 months ($100 per month) interest free. Note that courier fees are not included in setup costs, and vary by pickup/delivery location.
