Founded in Philadelphia, PA, CorCell Companies, Inc. was the first licensed private cord blood bank in the United States. Recently acquired by Cord Blood America, their cryogenic laboratory and headquarters in Las Vegas is new as of 2010, but CorCell has been dedicated to private cord blood banking since 1995.
It's not technically a 'discount', but for those having difficulties with the initial collection and processing fees CorCell offers what it calls the "Afford-A-Cord" program, which reduces the initial outlay to $495, after which customers can pay a flat $29 per month over the term of their contract.
Boasting a 100% transplant success rate, the first known autologous transplant worldwide for childhood leukemia and over 20,000 customers, CorCell is definitely one of the better established cord banks in the US.
